PTA’s informational tax returns are due November 15th. If you have never filed an IRS 990/990N/990EZ or FTB 199 form plan on attending Peralta’s Tax Filings Training on Tuesday, October 25th at 6:30 pm.
The Zoom link to attend was emailed to all unit and council presidents and treasurers, but if you are still needing it, send a request to president.pdpta@gmail.com
California State PTA has a Tax Filing Support Center you can refer to. After submitting your documents to the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board of California, be sure to upload copies to PTAEZ under Document Management (free access to all PTAs).
If your PTA has gross revenues under $50,000 your PTA can file a postcard version of the 990 and 199 in just a matter of minutes. Note, you cannot file for an extension if you plan to file the postcard versions of the 990 and 199. However, if you anticipate not being able to file on time, you can apply for a six-month extension using Form 8868. Please notify your council or district treasurer if you are filing for an extension.
And don’t forget to renew your Charitable Trust number with the California Attorney General’s office using the Registration Renewal Form (RRF-1) by November 15th as well. Again, copies should also be uploaded to PTAEZ. just as you do with tax filings. Filing FAQs
